Annual Chlorine Conversion - Miami-Dade County
When:The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) will conduct its annual chlorine conversion from October 13–26, 2025. During this period, WASD will temporarily switch from combined chlorine (chloramine) to free chlorine to disinfect the drinking water supply at its treatment plants.
This is a routine and preventive measure to ensure the continued delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water throughout the system.
During this two-week process, some residents may notice a slight chlorine taste or smell in their water. Please be assured this is temporary and poses no health risks.
There may be intermittent, brief periods of lower-than-normal water pressure or instances of cloudy water. If you notice cloudy water, let the water run for three to five minutes until the water runs clear. This temporary, cosmetic issue does not impact water quality.
