The City will plant trees on the right-of-way in most cases, provided there is enough space. The tree species selected will match the predominant species on the street, as determined by the Public Works Department. This service is provided at no cost to residents. However, residents are not permitted to plant anything on the right-of-way without proper authorization and a landscape encroachment review. Submit a request for tree planting via QAlert.
Residents are allowed to prune tree roots that extend onto their private property. However, root pruning can be harmful to trees and should be done with caution. The City provides root pruning services for trees located in the right-of-way. Residents are not permitted to cut roots within the public right-of-way. The City may prune these roots as necessary. Request root pruning services through QAlert.
Resodding the Parkway (Swale)
The City does not provide resodding services for parkways (swales). However, if damage is caused by City activities such as street paving or utility installation, the City will make necessary repairs.
Residents are responsible for maintaining trees on private property and ensuring they do not obstruct sidewalks or roads.
Please note that the City cannot trim any trees that touch or are in close proximity to power lines. To address this issue, you must contact FPL directly through their online portal. Their portal can be found HERE.
